Hello all. I am new to Denmark myself and love meeting new people and sharing experiences. My family and I moved to Denmark in November of 2019 and settled on Lolland in Hunseby (Maribo). My husband is Danish, and my children are now fluent. I am currently in Danish language classes and will finish in December 2022. I work full time for a Danish company that is part of the Femern project.
In my free time, I love to be with my family and friends outside somewhere. Kayaking is my new favorite sport. As a member of the steering group of the International Community Lolland Falster, I also stay busy and involved in the community.
I am originally from the United States, however, I grew up all around the world. I have lived in Greece, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa, and visited many other places. I understand the challenges of newcomers and love to help where I can. I absolutely love Denmark, especially Lolland, and I am ready to help in any way I can to make everyone more at home in our lovely countryside.
Feel free to contact me via SMS or email.
I first came to Denmark as an exchange student when I was 16, but Denmark had a special place in my heart, so I returned years later for work. After I met my Danish husband, we started a family and bought a home, but plans changed, and a few years later we moved to Saudi Arabia for work. We have since moved 5 times, but we chose to put roots down in Maribo, because of the international school, small-town charm, cultural offerings, and diverse community.

I am from Peru, married 44 years to a Dane. This is the third time I have moved back to Denmark. I know how challenging it can be to move from one country to another.
I worked as Bilingual Secretary at the Peruvian Embassy in Denmark, in this position I helped diplomats fron Peru and staff members from the Embassy how to settle in Copenhagen.
My last position in Peru was as Manager of our Farm & Lodge, located in the Peruvian rainforest until set. 2019. Where we had many international guests, and I had the task of organizing many events, tours, booking, etc.
Currently, I am working as a volunteer at Red Cross in Maribo, twice a week. With this experience I would like to offer help and advice for to newcomers in Lolland.
I speak Spanish, English and Danish. If you have any questions you are welcome to contact me, I will be very pleased to help you.

Welcome to Lolland! My name is Candice and I live in Maribo with my husband and two Third Culture Kids. Born in the US, I have lived in Denmark and the Middle East for the past 17 years, so I truly understand the considerations, rewards, and challenges of an expat lifestyle. I enjoy meeting new people and would be happy to share my insight with you, so please feel free to contact me.

Throughout my career I have managed international programs and services, while guiding others through their international transitions. It was natural for me to establish the International Community Lolland-Falster (ICLF) to offer useful information and a supportive network for newcomers. I invite you to join our ICLF Facebook group, seminars, and gatherings, so we can all help you settle here on Lolland!
